Looking out over Alaska Bay - Thomas Shover

I am a full time freelance writer since 2005 who loves the written word in every form. I make my living off of business writing, content and SEO work, editing, travel and ghost writing, but I also love creative writing. On my own time I work on my fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, and screenplays. The best part about being a freelance writer is being able to cover a wide variety of topics and interests while getting paid for learning! I think life is an adventure, and the best lives are the ones that make a difference while doing something off the beaten path.

Online Pages & Articles I'm Proud of

My freelance writer blog is beginning to get a lot more attention and is growing in popularity as I work to help beginners break into the online writing business. There is definitely a nice feeling once your blog name ("Master Dayton" in this case) begins getting Google searches every month.

My Sinclair Lewis lens at Squidoo has displayed my academic interest in this great American writer, and has led to several interviews on radio shows based on my expertise in literature. Although my personal favorite of my pages on literature is probably my list of my favorite 10 travel novels.

I also love movies, video games, and anything that's contributing to artistic culture. The Coen Brothers are my favorite directors, and my writing on them resulted in being published in an article by .Cent, the international arts magazine, quoted as a Coen Brothers expert. I've also done extensive writing on the video game industry, including odd sections of the culture that don't tend to get as much attention, such as Nintendo Wii games for older adults.

And because it's been one of my favorite ice breaker stories since moving back to the Lower 48, and a featured travel article on Xomba, I love this travel article: Frozen Outhouses and Other Winter Adventures in Fairbanks, Alaska.

My creative writing has won several awards, as well. My science fiction flash fiction story "Serial" was named one of the best newcomer stories of the month at Alien Skin, while my fiction story "Three Forks, Alaska" won the 2007 Harold McCracken Award for Outstanding Writing About Alaska and the North Country award as the best story written by any Alaska student, while my poem "Graduated" came in 3rd place in the 2007 Harold McCracken Memorial Poetry Contest.

Online I have wrote for Demand Studios, eHow, Golflink, Trails Travel, Journey Beyond Travel, Associated Content, Constant Content, Guru.com, and Elance, among many others.

I am looking forward to the continuing development of my writing skills, and in advancing my writing career while working for Suite 101.
